How will I use social media after graduating?

By the grace of God, in June of this year I will officially be a graduate of the multimedia program. I intend to specialize in the field of videography upon graduating, and taking this into consideration I expect to increase my use of social media. For one, when producing any form of promotional video, be it a commercial or music video, the intention is for it to create awareness for your product, primarily through the views it compiles on Youtube, like and shares it gets on Facebook, and re-tweets on Twitter. I mean you're talking about two of the top 10 most visited websites in the world and one that's just outside of the top 10(Twitter)[1].

With this in mind, I fully expect to be doing a lot of promotion on numerous social media outlets to increase awareness for whatever project I am currently working on and build on my internet presence. Other than that though, I don't expect my use of social media to really change, I still expect to use it to keep in touch with friends and get into political arguments. Although I may cut back on the number of risque posts on my timeline.

Online System that has helped my education

Unlike most people, I am a fan of change. I rarely get upset when a company decides to change a program I am accustomed to. With that said, when it comes to education I admit I am a bit of a dinosaur. I generally keep to the basics in terms of educational tools; my pen, my paper, and-as of recently-my laptop, so when someone asks me about an online tool that has assisted my education I honestly draw blanks. The only exception to this is most certainly dropbox, a very useful tool I was only recently introduced to. You see dropbox allows me to access any files I have stored in it on any computer in the world, all you need is internet access and you're set. I can't count the number of times I or a friend of mine has had to take a taxi cab to rush back home because we forgot a file on our computer at home. There's a reason dropbox has over a billion uploads per day[1]. It really has changed the way I handle my school work.

Social Media

As a 25 year old in 2014 I have more than a little experience with social media. My first experience with it was in 2004-2005 when hi5 was first becoming popular. I was in boarding school and all my friends were creating accounts so I made one, but never really used it. By the time I had moved to Canada in 2006 hi5 was going the way of disco as everyone had moved on to Facebook and this is where my real relationship with social media begins.
You see I spent the first 18 years of my life in Nigeria and upon graduating from our equivalent of high school me and my friends all went to different universities in on different continents. Keeping in touch would have been very difficult were it not for Facebook. To this date this is my main use of Facebook, keeping in touch with all my friends across the globe. Just the fact that every now and then I might see a Facebook status from a friend who I haven't spoken to in years can go a long way to helping me keep in touch.
So this is what social media means to me.
